What is the story?

Borley Rectory was a Victorian house that gained fame as the most haunted house in England after being described as such by harry Price.

Built in 1862 to house the rector of the parish of Borley and his family, it was badley damaged by fire in 1939 and demolished in 1944.

Borley Rectory has long been viewed as the most haunted house in the country but what is the truth behind the stories?

Harry Price had a very eventful career, however, out of all his investigations, non attracted as much controversy as that of Borley Rectory, located in a quiet Essex Hamlet, it had all the ingredients of a classic ghost story, murder, affairs, restless spirits, mysterious fires and dark deeds.

Hosted & co-hosted radio shows for the BBC and other broadcasters.

Alan Murdie

Alan Murdie is a lawyer active in psychical research in the UK and abroad. He has conducted research into spontaneous cases in United Kingdom, Romania and Colombia and has written and broadcast extensively on paranormal topics for local, national, and international media. He is a Council member of the Society for Psychical Research and is chairman of the Ghost Club, founded in 1862. He is the editor of the new edition of Ghost Hunting: A Practical Guide, writes a monthly column ‘Ghostwatch’ for Fortean Times magazine and runs the website www.europaranormal.com.

Anne Winspar

Ann Winsper is a Psychical Phenomenologist, and is currently a PhD student at the University of Central Lancashire, researching the Psychology of Electronic Voice Phenomena. As well as being a member of the Parapsychological Association and the Society for Psychical Research, she has been actively investigating reported hauntings for nearly 30 years and is co-founder of Para.Science psychical research and investigation.

CJ Romer

Christian Jenson Romer, better known as CJ, has been studying the paranormal nearly 40 years, and has contributed to over a dozen different televised TV series, including shows like Most Haunted and Ghost Hunters. CJ is an active member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) and is active secretary for, Association for Scientific study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP)
